Board of Directors Structure of MCCPIN per 2019 revised by-laws:

The Board of Directors shall consist of the following elected positions:

  • Executive Committee (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and an adviser – past president in the future)

  • Committee Chairs (Public Policy, Education, Membership, Marketing/Communications)

  • Regional Representatives: Northwest, Northeast, Southwest/Central, Southeast, West Metro, East Metro


Qualifications to nominate for a Board of Directors Position:

      Board of Directors Qualifications:

            A.  Current individual member of MCCPIN. 

      Board of Directors Terms of Office 

Board of Directors will be elected for a term of two years which begins following the Annual Meeting and are not eligible to serve more than two consecutive terms of office in the same position.


Terms of Office for the Election:

As all offices will be elected, positions are a two year term.

Election of Board of Directors: This is a 14 member board of directors.

          Prior to the Annual Meeting, the following Board of Directors will be elected:  

          On odd numbered years: For the 2021, 2023 elections

          Vice President     2 year term 

          Secretary     2 year term

          Education Chair    2 year term                                                                                             

          Marketing/Communications Chair      2 year term

          Regions as determined by the Board      2 year term NW, SE, West Metro


          On even numbered years: Election in 2020, 2022

          President  2 year term

          Treasurer    2 year term

          Membership Chair 2 year term

          Public Policy Chair  2 year term

         Regions as determined by the Board  2 year term NE, SW-Central, East Metro



Timelines for the Election:

  • Job Descriptions, Conflict of Interest Statement, Regional Map and Application posted 

  • Applications accepted January 1, 2020– February 28, 2020

  • Ballot and bios of candidates will be emailed/mailed to members  March 11, 2020

  • Election ballots must be returned by April 1, 2020

  • April 18, 2020 Annual Meeting and installation of officers


Who can nominate?

Members may nominate a provider who meets the qualifications above and whom they believe has skills and energy to share with family child care providers in Minnesota.  Individual providers meeting the qualifications above may submit their own nomination. Members or non-members may submit names to the MCCPIN steering committee that will follow up with names submitted. Nominations must be submitted by February 28, 2020.


Candidate Responsibilities When Nominated:

  • Read the job description they wish to be nominated for or apply for. For questions contact Linda Schesso, president of MCCPIN. 651-636-1989 or send a message via the contact form on the web site. www.mccpin.org

  • Read and be willing to abide by the Conflict of Interest Policy which is signed at the April meeting by those elected

  • Regional Representative review the regional map.  Providers interested in shadowing a Regional Representative could work with the elected regional representative before applying for the position of Regional Representative.  Regional Representatives and are the grass roots representation of providers in a region of the state.  Regions of the state follow the Child Care Aware Districts.  

  • All providers nominated will be contacted prior to the distribution of the election ballot to confirm their willingness to serve on the MCCPIN Board of Directors.


When will an elected position begin their responsibilities?                                                                                                                                                  Providers elected will begin their responsibilities as a member of the Board of Directors at the 2021 Annual Meeting of MCCPIN.
